2005 FORMULA RENDEZVOUS – PRESS RELEASE
Formula Rendezvous – a first for Dockside Landing Marina and
Lake George.
During the picture perfect weekend of July 23rd & July 24th,
Dockside
Landing Marina and Thunderbird/Formula Powerboats sponsored its
first
annual Formula Rendezvous at Black Mountain Point on beautiful
Lake George.
Over 100 people were aboard roughly 30 Formula boats for this
two-day event.
On Saturday, sunny skies welcomed Formula
Rendezvous participants to a host
of activities throughout the day and night. The Poker Run
proved to be an
exciting and competitive event. Just under 50 hands were
dealt…leading
participants to pick up playing cards at some of the most scenic
locations on
Lake George. What’s more, Poker Run enthusiasts were able to
take a closer
look at new Formula boats throughout the event.
The Poker Run began at Dockside Landing
Marina in Hague, NY, where the
new Formula 31 PC and 260 Sun Sport were on display. Next it
was a short
jaunt North to The View Restaurant to pick up a playing card and
to see a
new 280 Sun Sport firsthand! Then, boaters cruised South to the
Algonquin
Restaurant in Bolton Landing to find the luxurious 34 PC sitting
pretty at the
dock. Next, it was a short hop across the pond to Shelving Rock
Bay, to the
sporty new 240 Bowrider. Lastly, to make it back in time for
the bar-b-q, Formula
boaters headed North once more to Black Mountain Point to
surrender their cards
in the classy 330 Sun Sport.
The results of the Poker Run were as follows:
1st Place: The Bordeau family – Entire Poker
Run money
2nd Place: The McCauley family – Dinner for
2, donated by The Georgian
Restaurant in Lake George
3rd Place: The Peloso family – Lake George
matted print, donated by renowned
Adirondack artist, Marilee Litwa
4th Place: The Marini family – Formula Gear
Windshirt, donated by Markel
American Insurance Company
5th Place: The Koplitz family – Formula Gear
towel, donated by Dockside Landing
Those who opted to stay at Black Mountain
Point for the day enjoyed a variety
of outdoor activities like volleyball, soccer, badminton, and
horseshoes. Due to
the 85 degree gorgeous day, many boaters spent much of the day
swimming
about in the warm waters of Lake George. It was the perfect
summer atmosphere!
Poker Run prizes were given out during the
delicious bar-b-q and clambake on
Saturday evening. But you did not have to be a Poker Run
participant to win
a Formula Gear product…Dockside Landing gave away tons of
Formula Gear all
weekend long!
Throughout Saturday night, Formula Rendezvous
revelers could be seen dancing
to the music of local favorite DJ Mikey T, while others chose to
take in another
beautiful sunset in the Adirondacks.
On Sunday morning, hungry Formula Rendezvous
participants met back at Black
Mountain Point for a quick brunch. Then, all boats jettisoned
to Red Rock Bay
for the final event of the Formula Rendezvous – a group photo of
all boats tied
together…from a helicopter hovering over Red Rock Bay!
Dockside Landing’s first annual Formula
Rendezvous – a celebration of Formula
boats on Lake George, and a great time had by all!
